Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Originating in France during the 1910s and peaking globally during the 1920s and 1930s, Art Deco represents modernity, glamour, and technological progress, characterised by sleek geometric shapes, streamlined forms, and luxurious materials.

Art Deco furniture frequently utilises exotic hardwoods, burr veneers such as walnut, contrasting inlays, and polished metal accents, constructed using a combination of traditional joinery and innovative steam-bending techniques.

Authentic pieces from this period typically exhibit high-quality book-matched veneers, distinctive geometric silhouettes, original hardware such as chromium or brass handles, and construction markers consistent with 1920s to 1940s manufacturing.

Integrating Art Deco items into contemporary spaces works best when they are used as focal points, paired with neutral walls and minimalist modern pieces to highlight their sculptural forms and rich wood grains.

Maintain antique wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer cracking, dusting regularly with a dry soft cloth, and occasionally applying appropriate furniture wax to nourish the finish.
