This is a large late Georgian/William IV glass ovoid-bowl mixing rummer dating from the beginning of the 19th century, c1830.
The glass is in excellent condition. It shows age related wear and tear consistent with some 200 years of use.
The glass measures 15.7 cm (6.2 inches) in diameter across the bowl rim and is 22 cm (8.8 inches) in height. Its size would suggest that it was either a ceremonial or mixing rummer. The bowl is ovoid in shape and is plain. The bowl sits on a capstan stem that ends in a shallow, conical foot that measures 11.2 cm (4.5 inches) in diameter and which carries a polished out pontil mark to the underside. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration.
Lead glass, weighing in at 1.03 kg. (~ 2 lb. 4 oz.).
