Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian rummer is a heavy-stemmed drinking glass originating in Britain during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Typically featuring a short knopped stem and a sturdy foot, these glasses were created primarily for consumption of punch, spirits, or ale in taverns and homes.

Georgian rummers were hand-blown from lead crystal glass containing silica, potash, and lead oxide. The bowls were formed separately from the stems and bases, often finished with slice-cutting or wheel engraving before annealing.

Authentic pieces exhibit a pontil mark or ground-smooth pontil scar on the underside of the base, along with slight hand-blown asymmetry. The lead glass composition often displays a faint greyish or dark tint under natural light alongside age-appropriate wear to the base.

A Georgian rummer can be presented inside a glass-fronted cabinet, grouped with historic stemware on a sideboard top, or displayed on an open shelf to highlight its optical clarity and cut details.

Wash Georgian glassware by hand using lukewarm water and gentle detergent, avoiding automatic dishwashers that risk thermal shock and surface cloudy deterioration. Dry immediately with a soft lint-free cloth to prevent mineral deposits.
