Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A French repeater carriage clock is a portable spring-driven timekeeper developed in France during the 19th century. The repeating mechanism allows the user to press a button on top of the case to sound the hour or quarter-hour on demand.

These clocks were typically constructed with heavy brass cases, often gilded or ornamented with champleve or cloisonne enamel. They feature bevelled glass panels to reveal the movement, along with ceramic or enamel dials and steel horological components.

Authentic pieces generally display maker stamps or serial numbers on the back plate, fine bevelled glass, a platform escapement visible through the top glass panel, and precise brass casing joints.

An antique carriage clock serves as a functional focal point when displayed on a fireplace mantelpiece, bookshelf, or executive desk alongside modern ceramics or leather-bound volumes.

Keep the clock in a dry environment away from direct heat sources and drafty areas. Wind the mechanism regularly using the correct size winding key, and have the mechanical movement serviced by a professional horologist every five to seven years.
