Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian side cabinets, produced between 1901 and 1910, are characterised by lighter, more delicate proportions than earlier Victorian pieces. Drawing heavily on eighteenth-century revival styles such as Sheraton and Hepplewhite, they frequently feature satinwood or boxwood marquetry, neoclassical urn motifs, and geometric glazed display doors.

Cabinetmakers primarily used dense hardwoods such as rosewood, mahogany, and satinwood for the main frame and veneers. Decorative inlays incorporated fine boxwood, ivory, bone, or brass, while cabinet fronts typically featured hand-drawn glass panes and solid cast brass handles.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, natural patina on brass hardware, and slight variations in wood colour due to age. Rosewood features distinct dark graining, while period marquetry displays precision cutting flush with the surrounding veneer.

A rosewood side cabinet serves as a focal point in a hallway, dining space, or drawing room. Pairing dark polished wood with neutral walls, contemporary ceramic accessories, or modern artwork creates an engaging contrast between historic craftsmanship and modern design.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth, avoiding spray cleaners containing silicones or harsh chemicals. Apply a high-quality beeswax paste annually along the grain to preserve the timber, and place the cabinet away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent veneer lifting or fading.
