In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Tavern clocks, also referred to as Act of Parliament clocks, originated in 18th-century Britain as large-dialled public timepieces mounted in inns and taverns to display the time clearly to patrons.

These clocks are constructed using solid mahogany and flame mahogany veneers over secondary softwoods or oak, featuring brass bezels, painted dials, and mechanical pendulum movements.

Authentic period examples feature hand-cut movement gearing, original flame mahogany veneering over timber carcasses, period dial signatures, and weight or spring-driven mechanical clockworks.

A substantial wall clock serves as a focal point when mounted above a sideboard, console table, or within an entryway, anchoring the space while complementing dark timber or neutral walls.

Keep the wood casing away from direct heat sources and dampness, dust gently with a soft dry cloth, apply bees wax sparingly to the timber, and have the mechanical movement serviced every five to seven years.
