Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A grandmother clock is a scaled-down version of a longcase or grandfather clock, usually standing between five and six feet tall. Introduced primarily in the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, grandmother clocks were designed to suit smaller domestic interiors while maintaining traditional longcase aesthetics.

Edwardian grandmother clocks were predominantly constructed from solid oak or mahogany cases, often featuring brass dials with spandrels, glass door panels, and internal steel or brass mechanical pendulum movements.

Authentic Edwardian pieces dating from 1901 to 1910 typically showcase restrained decorative elements such as barley twist mouldings, understated arched hoods, brass dials with Roman numerals, and compact proportioning suited for early 20th-century residences.

An oak grandmother clock functions well in entrance hallways, stairwell landings, or quiet alcoves, providing a focal architectural point. Pairing warm dark timber with neutral wall colours allows the silhouette and brass metalwork to stand out without overwhelming contemporary decor.

The mechanical movement should be wound weekly using the appropriate key and professionally serviced every five to seven years. The timber casing should be kept away from direct heat sources and polished periodically with high-grade beeswax.
