This Georgian wine glass dates to circa 1760 and exhibits traditional glassmaking methods in lead glass and enamel. The piece comprises a clear bell-shaped bowl atop a central stem decorated with an opaque white corkscrew twist and a two-ply twist surround, resting upon a flat conical foot with a visible pontil mark on the underside. The glass is clear in colour with white interior elements within the stem, showing minor surface imperfections and tiny air bubbles embedded within the transparent body. Measuring 15 cm high, 5.5 cm wide and 5.5 cm deep, this item suits placement on a sideboard top in a gentleman's library or dining room setting as a display or decorative drinking vessel.

Originating in mid-18th-century Britain, these drinking vessels are characterised by internal opaque white or air spirals embedded within the central stem structure.

Glassmakers created twist stems by inserting opaque enamel rods into a cylinder of molten lead glass, drawing it out, and twisting the cane to form the spiral pattern.

Authentic period pieces display hand-blown traits, including a rough pontil scar or smoothed pontil mark beneath the conical foot, minor glass inclusions, and natural wear to the base rim.

These historical glasses are frequently showcased inside glazed display cabinets, arranged along a sideboard top, or used as accents within a curated dining setting.

Clean gently by hand using lukewarm water and a mild washing liquid, avoiding mechanical dishwashers, extreme temperature changes, and harsh abrasive materials.
