This eighteenth-century Georgian wine glass is formed from clear lead glass. It has a flared bell bowl above a knopped stem with a multi-spiral air twist pattern, terminating in a plain conical foot. The clear material shows smooth surfaces and precise internal twisting within the slender stem and central knob, resting on a flat circular base. Standing at 14.7 cm high, 6.2 cm wide, and 6.8 cm deep, the piece measures 14.7 cm in height with a 6.2 cm rim diameter and a 6.8 cm foot diameter. Placed upon a sideboard top within an English country house interior, it brings period detail to a dining room or display cabinet. Collectors use such vintage drinkware for decorative display or formal table settings.

Air twist wine glasses are 18th-century English drinking vessels characterized by internal spiral patterns of air trapped within the stem, popular predominantly between 1740 and 1770.

Glassmakers pricked a gathering of molten lead glass to form air pockets, stretched and twisted the rod to lengthen the internal air columns into spirals, and attached the stem to the hand-blown bowl and conical foot.

Authentic mid-18th-century pieces generally exhibit lead glass construction with a slightly grey tone, a hand-finished pontil scar or smoothed base, authentic wear rings on the bottom rim, and period-appropriate proportions.

Antique stemware is typically styled inside illuminated display cabinets, placed on sideboard trays, or arranged on library shelving to highlight the refractive qualities of the lead glass.

Wash by hand using lukewarm water and mild liquid detergent, avoiding temperature extremes that cause thermal shock, and dry immediately with a soft lint-free cloth.
