In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The inside the lid is decorated with a pretty inlaid floral pattern and the box comes with its original working key.
The box is in good condition for its age and the interior is generally clean and tidy. There are some small losses to the inlaid bone circles and some minor damage to some of the quills. There have been a few old repairs and there are of course signs of age and use but nothing detrimental and overall it displays well.
