This French Louis XV style kingwood vitrine is a two-door display cabinet of serpentine outline, raised on cabriole legs with gilt-metal feet mounts. The warm brown timber is finished with intricate marquetry and satinwood inlay depicting floral vases, complemented by curved glass side panels and a pink damask fabric interior. Measuring 139.5 cm high, 84 cm wide, and 44 cm deep, the cabinet stands as an elegant freestanding piece designed to showcase collections in a formal living room, hallway, or dining space. The structure incorporates a polished wooden top, shaped panels below the glazed doors, and delicate floral motifs inlaid along the upright stiles. The visible hardware includes a small keyhole escutcheon on the right door, while the cabriole legs terminate in decorative metallic sabots at the base. The pink damask lining provides a soft contrast to the warm brown exterior tones, creating a traditional display case suited for storing porcelain, glassware, or decorative objects within a refined domestic interior.

A vitrine is a glass-fronted cabinet designed during the eighteenth century in France to display small curiosities, porcelain, and collectibles while protecting them from dust.

Traditional vitrines feature kingwood, walnut, or rosewood veneers decorated with floral marquetry, fitted with glass panels, cast ormolu mounts, and fabric-lined interiors.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut marquetry inlays, curved serpentine framing, hand-blown glass panels, bronze sabot feet, and dovetailed joinery on structural elements.

Position the cabinet against a neutral accent wall to highlight the timber tones, utilizing the glass shelves to showcase modern ceramics or glassware alongside heritage objects.

Keep the cabinet away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer cracking, dust the woodwork with a dry microfibre cloth, and clean the glass with non-ammonia cleaner.
