A beautiful brass bound writing slope in mahogany that dates to around 1860
In fantastic original condition with a deep rich brown waxed finish with brass corners and inserts
It has a brass cartouche and escutcheon and comes with a working lock and key
With a black and gold embossed leather skiver on the writing area and with its ‘ original glass and screw top inkwell
A divider to the right of the inkwell can be raised to release a spring panel, behind which are a pair of secret drawers
It measures 12 inches wide, 6 inches high and 9 inches deep
There are some newspaper cuttings referring to a society wedding in 1935 which are much later than the age of the box but came with it , so I have included them
