Description

An Arts and Crafts mahogany bookcase cabinet by Shapland and Petter, attributed and dated to circa 1905. Inlaid in the manner of M.H. Baillie Scott, the door features a stylised marquetry panel of a dafadil enclosed in a circular motif. The piece is edged with alternating chequer-strung inlay and retains its original cast brass handle. Model number stamped to the rear. Referenced in B. Daryl Bennett’s Shapland and Petter Ltd of Barnstaple: Arts & Crafts Furniture, 2005, p.103, fig.6.11.
