Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Nineteenth-century cut glass typically features hand-cut geometric patterns, such as diamonds or flutes, often combined with wheel-engraved botanical or pictorial motifs reflecting the prevailing decorative arts movements of the period.

These items were crafted from lead crystal or flint glass, shaped by free-blowing into moulds or onto a pontil rod, and finished with hand-cutting and polishing using abrasive wheels.

Authentic pieces often exhibit minor surface wear on the base, known as shelf wear, a pontil scar from manual finishing, slight asymmetries due to handcrafting, and a high lead content that produces a resonant ring when struck gently.

These glasses can be displayed in an open cabinet or on a bar cart to introduce texture and historical contrast, or utilised functionally during formal dining settings to add heritage character.

Antique glass should be washed by hand in lukewarm water using a mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and dishwashers, which can cause thermal shock, hazing, or chipping on fragile rims.
