This pair of mid Victorian dessert wine glasses originates from England and dates to 1870. Each piece is formed from aqua green coloured glass, incorporating goblet-shaped bowls decorated with bands of thumbnail cutting around the lower sections. The smooth stems connect to supporting collars at both the foot and the bowl, terminating in circular flat bases. Additional visual elements include polished pontil marks on the undersides and rich teal-to-emerald tones throughout the material. Each glass measures 13 cm high, 6 cm wide, and 6 cm deep. These functional items suit display upon a sideboard top within an English country house interior. They offer practical utility for dining service or as decorative collectors' glassware in a contemporary living space.

During the nineteenth century, British and European glassworks introduced tinted stemware to coordinate with formal table settings and to disguise the cloudiness of fortified dessert wines.

Pieces were typically hand-blown using metallic oxides to create shades such as teal, green, and cranberry, followed by hand-cutting or moulding of decorative bowl facets.

Authentic nineteenth-century examples often feature slight asymmetry, subtle air bubbles or tool marks, faint wear patterns on the underside of the base, and polished pontil scars.

Coloured glassware can be displayed on open shelving, integrated into modern tablescapes alongside contemporary tableware, or arranged on glass-fronted sideboards to catch natural light.

Hand wash gently in lukewarm water using mild dish detergent, avoiding dishwashers, abrasive sponges, and extreme temperature shifts that could cause thermal shock.
