These Victorian lead crystal glassware items comprise a pair of large clear goblets dating from 1850 in the English Country House style. Each piece features a rounded rim decorated with wheel-engraved grapevine motifs, sweeping into reed edge panels that taper downward to meet a ring socle, a knopped stem, and a slightly domed circular foot with a pontil base on the underside. The visual details include etched leaves, grapes, and vertical fluting across the bowl. Dimensions measure 18.5 cm high, 15.5 cm wide, and 15.5 cm deep. Such vessels suit practical or decorative use on a sideboard top during dining occasions or formal entertaining. The transparent material and intricate engraving allow them to complement traditional table settings or display cabinets while offering a generous capacity of almost 1 1/2 pints per glass.

Victorian engraved glass goblets are large drinking vessels produced during the nineteenth century, featuring wheel-engraved motifs such as grapevines, foliage, or floral patterns. These pieces were designed for serving wine, ale, or cider during formal occasions.

Glassware from this period was hand-blown using lead crystal or flint glass to enhance clarity and refractive weight. Decorative patterns were created by copper-wheel engraving or acid-etching onto panelled or hand-cut glass bodies.

Period glassware demonstrates variations characteristic of hand-crafting, including faint wheel marks in the engraving and smooth polished pontil scars. The glass often exhibits distinct weight, high resonance, and subtle atmospheric imperfections such as tiny seed bubbles.

These goblets can be arranged on a dining table, side table, or within an illuminated display cabinet to accentuate the detailed engraving. Placing them near natural light sources allows the refractive qualities of the glass to be highlighted.

Hand-wash antique glass in lukewarm water using mild washing-up liquid and a soft cloth, avoiding mechanical dishwashers completely. Ensure gradual temperature transitions to avoid thermal shock, and dry immediately with a microfiber cloth to prevent water marking.
