Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Renaissance Revival metalwork emerged in the mid-to-late nineteenth century, drawing inspiration from sixteenth-century European craftsmanship. Pieces typically feature dense relief carving, mythological imagery, enamelling, hardstone cabochons, and classical motifs such as portrait cameos.

These caskets were constructed using silver or silver-gilt foundations, embellished with champleve or cloisonne enamel, hand-carved shell or stone cameos, and gold appliques. Inner compartments were often lined with velvet or silk to protect delicate contents.

Authentic pieces generally display period assay marks, makers punches, or date letters indicating late Victorian production. Construction techniques such as hand-chased metalwork, pinned enamel appliques, and authentic hand-carved cameos distinguish original items from modern cast reproductions.

A decorative table box functions as a focal accent when placed on a dark wood sideboard, marble mantelpiece, or executive desk. Pairing the object with clean-lined modern accessories creates an effective visual contrast between historic metalwork and contemporary surfaces.

Maintain silver-gilt surfaces by dusting gently with a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid liquid silver polishes or abrasive cleaners, as these can strip thin gilding and damage soft enamel or carved cameo elements.
