Gilt and Gesso has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
An early 19th century, circa 1800-1830 Regency period Chinese lacquer work box, a chinoiserie theme decorated hinged box of sarcophagus form with slide out lower drawer, original brass operating hinges and lift out compartment tray.

An elegant lidded antique table top box of exquisite hand painted chinoiserie decoration, featuring the traditional themes and motifs to all 4 sides and top, showing evidence of some timeworn wear, whilst structurally very good, there are some inevitable losses, mostly to the hand carved edges of the paw feet and areas around the edges of the front drawer.
It opens and closes efficiently, sits well and in most part complete. An antique box having both function and form.
