Georgian Mahogany Glove Box

18th century
Description

A good quality mahogany box dating from the early 19th Century. It is a particularly long shape and was most likely used to store gloves. It has a beautiful patina with an unusual chamfered top. It stands on a shaped plinth base and has two brass closing latches.

It is in good condition and the interior is generally clean and tidy. There are some signs of age and use, some light surface marks and knocks and an old split above one back hinge but nothing detrimental and it is strong and sturdy. It has been cleaned and lightly polished and is ready for use.
