This mid 18th century Georgian cordial wine glass is formed from clear lead glass in an early English style. The object comprises a small funnel-shaped bowl set atop a plain round stem, supported by a large folded foot base. Visible details include internal scoring and surface scratches inside the bowl, whilst the exterior remains free of chips or cracks. The piece stands 14 cm high, 7 cm wide, and 7 cm deep, with exact dimensions measuring 5 and a half inches tall, a 2-inch diameter bowl, and a 2 and three-quarter inch diameter base. Items of this type originate from a private collection of early wine glasses and suit placement on a dining room sideboard top for display within an English country house interior setting.

A cordial wine glass from the 18th century was designed specifically for serving concentrated spirits, liqueurs, or fortified wines. Characterised by a small bowl relative to its stem height, these glasses reflected the high value and potency of cordials during the Georgian period.

Mid-18th-century British glassware was typically hand-blown using heavy lead crystal glass, known for clarity and resonance. Stems were either drawn directly from the bowl or attached separately, often featuring folded feet to reinforce the rim of the base.

Authentic Georgian stemware features subtle irregularities from hand-blowing, such as minor inclusions, air bubbles, and a visible pontil mark underneath the base. The glass often displays a characteristic greyish tint and weight typical of historical lead formulations.

An antique cordial glass functions as a delicate accent piece when arranged on a sideboard top, curated inside a glass cabinet, or styled on a tray. Grouping stemware pieces of varying heights creates a subtle focal point that catches natural light.

Hand wash antique glassware individually in tepid water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes to prevent thermal shock. Dry immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth and store standing upright rather than inverted on its rim.
