Box Vanity Outstanding Rare Coromandel William Neal 1863

19th century
Description

Here we have possibly one of the best Victorian vanity boxes ever made. This outstanding box was made in 1863. The box is made from the finest burr and figured Coromandel the likes of which we have never seen in terms of figured grain and colour. There is an original working Bramah lock and key. There are two push button flush drawers. The base front drawer houses a plush original silk and velvet lined jewellery compartment. Inside the top is a romovable mirror which is leather bound on one side with gilded Gold leaf decoartion. The other side is ruffled deep rich blue velvet. The inside is fully fitted with implements and stunning faceted glass jars with starcut bases. The tops are all hallmarked for William Neal London 1863 and Queen Victorias young head. The tops have the finest engraved decoration which remarkably is also replicated on the hinges and locking mechanism. A finer box will not be found. The box is in time warp condition and has barely been opened. A fine example which will sit prodly in any collection. The dimensions are approx 33 cm wide 25 cm deep 19 cm high.

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
