A good antique oak box dating from the early to mid 19th century with a lovely rich patina. It is well made and has its original strap hinges, brass escutcheon and boarded floor. A good size for a small coffee table or toy trunk.
It is in good condition for its age. It is strong and sturdy and generally clean and tidy inside. There are signs of use and age, some general knocks and marks and a few small chips and splits but nothing untoward or detrimental. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
