Handsome Antique English Walnut Playing Card / Games Box - Brass Bound C.1880

Description

A beautiful quality games box made from burl Walnut and beautifully bound in brass mounts and a complimentary shield-shaped brass mounted escutcheon which houses a taselled key for display purposes (not currently working).

The top of the lid has a playing card mount with two cards with red cards and three black, created from coloured leather underneath the mounts.

The interior is quite wonderful with the original gilded brass & wooden cribbage board, removable with sections underneath where two pegs (these are the only two) and some dice. The front half of the interior houses three boxes of old playing cards.

Excellent condition, measuring 10" x 7 3/4" x 3".
