The eight-day duration movement has a silvered platform lever escapement of a style typical of those used by Jacot and strikes the hour and half-hour on a gong.The movement backplate is stamped with the serial number 11706 along with the Jacot trademark being the initials H.J. either side of a parrot on a perch, being an African grey known as a Jacot. The inside of the plates are stamped with the Jacot poincon oval giving the years of various exposition awards, the last on this oval being 1889 at the Paris Exposition.
