Cross Antiques has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The case is in nicely figured mahogany, it has retained it's original finish and is a lovely colour.

It has a good quality 5 pillar, 8 day movement that strikes the hours on a bell. It has a smart brass dial with silvered chapter ring and gilt spandrels. It also has a subsidiary seconds dial and date indicator. It has it's original brass cased weights which have been painted gold at some time in the past.
The movement is in working order and keeping good time.
