This nineteenth-century Georgian longcase clock is constructed from mahogany and flame mahogany with a warm brown timber colour and clear glass covering the dial. The tall wooden case stands 240 cm high, 61.5 cm wide, and 26.5 cm deep, resting upon small round feet beneath a rectangular base. The hood has a swan-neck pediment with scroll terminals, flanked by turned columns, enclosing an arched painted dial depicting a landscape scene with buildings and a church spire, alongside Roman numerals and brass keyhole hardware on the side door. The long trunk features an arched door panel displaying pronounced flame mahogany wood grain patterns, while the mouldings frame each section from the base to the crest. In a modern home, this floor clock suits placement in a hallway, living room, or study as a functioning timepiece.

Georgian longcase clocks typically feature mahogany cases, arched dials with hand-painted spandrels, and architecturally inspired hoods such as swan-neck pediments.

Craftsmen constructed these clocks using solid timber frameworks veneered with flame mahogany, along with brass movements, iron dials, and lead weights.

Authentic period clocks display evidence of hand-cut joinery, original movement mounting on wooden seatboards, hand-hammered iron work, and age-consistent patination across metal and timber surfaces.

A tallcase clock serves as a strong vertical focal point in an entrance hallway, dining room, or drawing room, adding historical contrast to contemporary architectural spaces.

Position the clock on a level floor away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight, wax the timber casing periodically with natural beeswax, and ensure the movement is professionally cleaned every few years.
