Rosewood Inlaid Mantel Clock

19th century
Description

A fine Pendule Portative style mantel clock made by Laine of Paris. The case is made of rosewood and delicately inlaid with nice floral boxwood marquetry to the front and sides, as well as fine boxwood line inlays to the borders. The dial is silvered with an attractive engine turned pattern, steel moon hands, surrounded by a decorative brass bezel. With an ornate carrying handle in the style of two hands clasping together, used as a symbol of unity.
