A pretty and very original little wall clock.
The 8 day duration, fusee movement with Anchor Recoil escapement and short pendulum.
Behind an 8'' diameter, flat painted iron dial with an off-white background, black outer divided minute track, Roman hour numerals and the maker''s name ''BUTCHER'' (of) ''WELLINGBOROUGH'' to the centre. The hands are blackened steel the hour of which is ''spade'' shaped. Behind a brass bezel with cemented in flat glass.
Contained in a dark mahogany case with a single piece, turned dial surround and a pegged back box with a side access door to the right and a curved, locking and cockbeaded door to the rounded bottom.
* Though this clock appears to be quite late to me, the maker (H. S. BUTCHER of WELLINGBOROUGH) is listed as working from c. 1847 until 1877 therefore, this example must have been made towards the end of his career.
Dimensions: 11'' wide x 11'' high x 6'' deep.
Condition: The case and dial are restored to a high standard. Though being made of brass, the glazed bezel has coloured down to a lovely bronze colour and has a very pleasing appearance. The lower door lock has been replaced as have so many because of loss or damage. The fusee movement is original and working but would greatly benefit from an overhaul. This is a pretty clock and very sound in construction.
Price: The price will include full restoration to the movement.
