A Mahogany, Small Fusee, English Dial Wall Clock With A Rare Dark Blue And Gold 10" Dial. circa 1890.

A pretty little clock with a very unusual dial.
 
The 8 day duration, rectangular plated, gut fusee movement with an Anchor Recoil escapement.
 
Behind a 10'' diameter, flat painted iron dial which very unusually has a dark blue background with gilt writing. Having an outer, divided minute track with triangular hour marks and inner, Roman hour numerals. Above centre is signed ''KILPIN St. Swithins Lane'' and below centre is written ''City'' in Old English font, all in gold. The paired spade style hands are also gilded and the dial is behind a cast brass, hinged bezel with a sight ring and flat glass.
 
The mahogany case has a convex turned dial surround and the back box has an access door to the right side and a curved and locking cockbeaded door to the curved bottom.
 
The small size of this clock and the very rare dial makes it very attractive.
