A rare pair of japenes Lacuer Hahho Bakko Samurai Helmet Boxes, dating from the Late Edo period, mid 19th century, of horizontal ribbed cylindrical form, lavighly decorated with Gold Tokugawa Mons.

The Tokugawa clan was a Japanese dynasty which produced the Tokugawa shoguns who ruled Japan from 1603 to 1867 during the Edo period. It was formerly a powerful daimyo family. They nominally descended from Emperor Seiwa and were a branch of the Minamoto clan through the Matsudaira clan.
