Suggestion Box Early 18th Century Oak

Description

Here we have a rare treen or period furniture collectors dream from my own personal collection. The piece dates from c 1720 and has all the lovely patina and colour you would expect. This George I suggestion box has fantastic carving to the front and a nicely moulded edge to the base all still intact. The slot as you would imagine is mishaped from the use and inside the Oak is dark dry and crusty. The piece is of nailed construction and absolutely right. There is a wonderful hide hinge with no evidnce of any other hinges on the lid or back. The arches for hanging are also in great condition. I know that condition and originality are paramount with items of this nature and this does not disappoint. A wonderful piece of period treen or furniture ready for your home. Dimensions are approx 13 inches high 9.5 wide 7.5 deep.
