In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
The scale is engraved with the name ; "Dobbie McInnes & Clyde Ltd.

The sextant comes in its original fitted wooden case with sections to hold the lenses and accessories. It has two brass closing latches, a carrying handle and it comes with its original key.
The sextant is in good condition for its age. It has been lightly cleaned and displays very well. The lens and mirrors are undamaged and produce a clear image with the original sighting lines. All parts move as they should. There is some tarnishing and wear on the finish in places but overall it displays well. The box is not without some small knocks, splits and some minor signs of age but overall it has a nice aged patina. I have not tested the accuracy of the sextant and it is being sold as a collectors item rather than a working scientific instrument.
The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.
