Antique Church Collection Pot with Key

19th century
Description

A lovely 19th Century oak church collection box. It is well made and is the first example I have seen with a locking compartment. The top is covered with a thick red felt with a central hole for depositing the money. It has a nicely tuned handle and it comes with its original working key for the lock. It has been well used and developed a beautiful rich patina through years of use.

It is in good condition for its age. There are some signs of age and use, some knocks and marks and a couple of chips here and there but no major damages. It has been lightly cleaned and polished and displays well.

The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.
