Description

Striking Japanese Meiji or Taisho (early 20thC) rectangular lacquer box. The cover is decorated in silver and gold takamaki-e and e-nashiji with a hawk perched on an elaborately tasselled stand, the design continuing over the front side of the box, the interior of the lid and box in rich nashiji. Measures 16.5cm x 11.5cm x 5cm (6½in x 4½in x 2in).

Excellent original condition.
