Victorian cut glass encompasses glassware produced during the reign of Queen Victoria (18371901), characterised by deep hand-cut geometric or floral motifs and heavy lead crystal composition that provided exceptional weight and brilliance.

These pieces were typically crafted from heavy lead crystal, blown into moulds or free-blown, and then laboriously hand-cut and polished on abrasive wheels to create sharp facets and patterns.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-polished facets with slight irregularities, minor surface wear or pontil marks on the base, and a dense weight characteristic of period lead crystal compositions.

They can be displayed functionally on a home bar or bar cart, used for serving spirits during gatherings, or styled simply on open shelving to add textural light reflection.

Antique crystal should be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding abrasive sponges or sudden temperature changes to prevent thermal shock and scratching.
