In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The lid is lined with a beautiful pale purple silk. Although designed as a games box it could of course be used for a variety of items and uses.
It is in good original condition and although it has been used it has obviously been very well looked after over the years. There are a few small knocks and marks around the outside, general signs of age and light use but nothing detrimental. There are some stains and wear on the interior but generally it is clean and tidy. The box has been cleaned, waxed and the brass gently polished and overall it displays beautifully.
