Large Brass Bound Mahogany Table / Document Box C.1840

Description

A wonderful large solid Mahogany box, originally a surgeon's instrument box, these are always popular with Doctor's and other clients in the medical professions.

These boxes are such a wonderful size, so useful for all sorts of things including hiding those ugly remote controls!

The box is beautifully brass bound with an inset brass plate to the top and retaining it's brass carrying handle. The front has two brass catches to keep securely shut together with the working key.

The interior has been professionally re-lined in a hand-marbled paper, totally in-keeping, creating a lovely clean interior.

Excellent condition, measuring 17 1/2" x 11 1/2" x 4 1/4" tall.
