Description

Superb walnut jewellery box from the fabulous Victorian era with working lock and key. Its lid has an engraved brass cartouche and lifts to reveal its original gathered velvet lining which drops down to reveal a removable mirror and concealed stationery compartment. The lining of the interior tray are original and show a little natural wear. The box is equipped with a button hook and nail file with matching mother of pearl handles, engraved and embossed epns pair of scissors, snuff spoon & bodkin. There is also a mother of pearl handled cork screw. A small knob to the back can be pressed to release spring loaded fitted drawer with red velvet lined compartments for rings, and other pieces of jewellery. This is a beautiful very functional box which will add a piece of history to any dressing table.
