Description

Immaculate mahogany cased twin fusee wall clock by Turner of Droitwich. Twin fusee, bell striking wall clocks are seldom found and this is a beautiful example.

The mahogany case retains it's original french-polished finish and has a deep, rich patina that only age can produce. It has a glazed lenticle to the lower half through which the pendulum can be seen in operation, and side inspection doors plus a key lockable door to the base. The side "ears" are wonderfully carved with grapevine detail.

The 12", white painted dial has black Roman numerals, beautifully cut hands and is signed Turner of Droitwich. It has a heavy cast brass bezel and silvered sight ring

. The 8 day, twin fusee movement is of the highest quality. It strikes the hours on a bell with a very clear, crisp tone. It has just been fully overhauled by our Bhi registered staff and carries our usual 12mths full parts and labour guarantee.

The type of clock that does not come along every day.

All cards accepted.

A twin fusee wall clock features a mechanical movement with two conical pulleys and chains or cords, designed to equalise the force of the mainspring as it unwinds to maintain accurate timekeeping, often incorporating a striking train.

These clocks typically feature solid timber cases such as mahogany or oak, brass movements with hand-cut gears, painted or enamelled dial faces, and glazed bezels to protect the hands and face.

Authenticity is identified by examining the hand-finished quality of the brass movement, the presence of matching maker signatures on the dial and movement plates, authentic patina on the timber, and period-correct mechanical wear.

An antique wall clock serves as a strong focal point in a contemporary space when mounted on a neutral wall, allowing its traditional craftsmanship and timber tones to contrast cleanly against minimalist surroundings.

To preserve the mechanism, the clock should be professionally serviced every few years, kept away from direct sunlight and moisture fluctuations, and wound carefully using the correct key according to its specific power reserve.
