This pair of late nineteenth-century Victorian glass tumblers, dating to circa 1880, originates from England during the period of Queen Victoria. The glassware is formed from clear lead crystal with a bright reflective finish. Each piece has a tapered bowl with a deceptive base and is decorated with a bold band of large printie and lens cuts, separated by finely executed split cuts and vertical flutes around the body. The decoration flows cleanly down to substantial bases, each finished with a polished pontil mark. The tumblers stand 10.5 cm in height with a bowl diameter of 8.9 cm and a foot diameter of 7 cm, holding a combined weight of 868 grams. These drinking vessels suit placement upon a gentleman's library desk or sideboard top for display, or for serving fine spirits during evening gatherings. Their classic Victorian form and robust weight make them practical for everyday use as well as decorative placement within traditional interior settings.

Victorian cut glass from around 1880 is defined by heavy lead crystal construction and deeply hand-cut geometric patterns, such as printies, flutes, and diamonds, which maximize light refraction.

These pieces were typically blown from high-lead flint glass to enhance clarity and brilliance, then decorated using rotating copper or stone wheels before being polished.

Authentic period pieces exhibit considerable weight, hand-finished polished pontil marks on the base, minor natural variations in the cutting symmetry, and slight surface wear consistent with age.

These vessels function effectively on a curated drinks trolley, open kitchen shelving, or a dining room sideboard to add texture and classic structure to modern barware arrangements.

Wash by hand in lukewarm water using mild liquid detergent and a soft cloth, avoiding dishwashers and sudden temperature changes that can thermal shock the glass structure.
