A fine 18th-century opaque twist wine glass, dating to circa 1760.
The glass is supported on a well-drawn double-series opaque twist stem, comprising a pair of spiral tapes enclosing a multi-ply corkscrew. Raised on a conical foot.

A particularly attractive example, combining strong moulded detail with a well-executed and visually striking twist stem typical of the period.
Historical Context
Opaque twist stems were popular in the mid-18th century because they combined strong visual decoration with technical precision, using internal white spiral threads, tapes and gauzes to create a crisp, controlled pattern within the glass. Moulded bowls, such as rib or flute moulding, were occasionally added to enhance light refraction, improve grip, and strengthen the bowl.
