Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A pier cabinet is a narrow storage cupboard originally designed during the 18th and 19th centuries to sit on the pier wall space located between two large windows. These cabinets were frequently topped with mirrors and used to store books, ceramics, or small decorative items.

Craftsmen typically constructed pier cabinets using solid wood frames layered with figured timber veneers such as rosewood or mahogany. Doors frequently incorporated brass wire grilles, silk or pleated fabric linings, or glass panels, supported by brass hardware.

Authentic period rosewood pieces display characteristic dark reddish-brown tones with distinct black grain patterns. Additional features include hand-cut dovetail joints, cast brass fittings, and signs of hand-planed secondary timbers inside drawers or back panels.

Place the cabinet in a hallway, alcove, or living room space to serve as an focal storage piece. The dark timber contrasts with neutral wall colours, while the top surface provides space for table lamps or framed artwork.

Maintain the timber by dusting with a microfiber cloth and applying beeswax occasionally along the grain. Keep the cabinet away from direct heat and sunlight to avoid veneer cracking, and gently dust the brass lattice using a dry soft brush.
