Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Arts and Crafts period dwarf cabinet dates to circa 1900-15 and takes the form of a low storage unit constructed from dark brown oak and glass. The structure incorporates a gallery top upstand, twin leaded glass doors fitted with a small round wooden handle, and a curved cut-out apron over shaped slab feet. Inside, the interior holds two shelves visible through the multi-pane leaded glazing. Measuring 94 cm high by 63 cm wide and 33 cm deep, the cabinet retains an original dark finish with a visible surface patina from age. In a contemporary home, this compact piece suits placement in a study, library, hallway, or living room as a display cabinet for books or decorative items. The shallow depth allows for positioning in narrower spaces where floor area is limited while providing practical enclosed storage behind glass doors.

FAQs

The Arts and Crafts movement emphasized honest craftsmanship, natural materials, and simple geometric forms, rejecting mass industrial production in favour of visible joinery and functional construction.

Cabinets from this era were predominantly constructed using solid woods such as oak or mahogany, paired with leaded glass panelling, wooden shelf supports, and iron or brass hardware.

Authentic pieces feature traditional mortise and tenon joinery, prominent wood graining such as quartersawn oak, original leaded glass frames, and unpretentious decorative elements like gallery tops or simple apron cut-outs.

A dwarf cabinet functions effectively as an entryway storage unit, a low dining room side piece, or an alcove bookcase, offering top surface space for table lamps, ceramics, or framed art.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a dry, lint-free cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year, while avoiding direct sunlight and excessive humidity.
