This clear lead glass Georgian rummer from around 1810 is an example of English glassware. The ovoid bowl displays wheel-engraved botanical motifs including a central branch with leaf fronds and four perched birds, plus two further birds in flight carrying leaf fronds in their beaks. A short knopped stem supports the bowl above a plain conical circular foot that reveals a pontil scar beneath. The piece measures 12.8 cm high, 9.2 cm wide, and 7.6 cm deep. In a modern interior, this footed glass functions as a decorative vessel on a sideboard top in a dining room or living space. The transparent material and intricate engraved design suit traditional or English country house styling.

A rummer is a drinking vessel with a wide bowl, short stem, and flat circular foot, widely produced in Britain during the late 18th and early 19th centuries for serving alcoholic beverages.

During the Regency and Georgian periods, rummers were hand-blown using heavy lead glass and decorated using copper-wheel engraving techniques to cut designs directly into the surface.

Authentic Georgian glassware typically displays a pontil mark on the underside of the base, minor irregularities from hand-blowing, and a distinct weight and dark ring characteristic of period lead crystal.

An antique rummer can be styled on a dark wood sideboard, within an illuminated glass display cabinet, or grouped on a decorative tray alongside other period glass items.

Antique lead glass should be washed individually by hand in lukewarm water using mild liquid detergent, avoiding abrasive cloths, dishwasher heat, and thermal shock from hot water.
