Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This serpentine-shaped side cabinet originates from the early twentieth century, reflecting the Queen Anne style in warm brown burr walnut. The timber displays prominent burr walnut veneer with rich figuring across the two cupboard doors, complemented by a decorative carved shell motif centred on the lower apron. Dark metal vertical escutcheons accent the door join, while the frame stands on slender cabriole legs terminating in pad feet. The top surface features a carved rope-twist moulding along the outer edge above the curved profile. The piece measures 114.3 cm high, 115.6 cm wide, and 40.7 cm deep. In a contemporary home, such a furnishing serves well in a living room, dining room, or hallway to provide closed storage for tableware, linens, or household items while introducing traditional English character to an interior space.

FAQs

Queen Anne style walnut furniture, popularised during the early eighteenth century and subsequently reproduced, features graceful cabriole legs, figured burr walnut veneers, and subtle carved shell motifs on the aprons.

Craftsmen applied thin veneers cut from highly figured tree burls over solid timber frame structures, securing panels with hand-dovetailed joints and fitting cast brass keyhole escutcheons.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-planed secondary timbers on back panels and drawer linings, historical iron or brass hinges, and natural patination across the wood surface.

Position the cabinet against neutral, muted walls to frame the figured wood grain, pairing the top surface with contemporary stoneware or table lamps to balance classical and modern design elements.

Place the item away from direct sunlight and radiators to avoid drying or cracking, applying a high-grade beeswax polish along the natural wood grain twice yearly.
