Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of bedside chests originates from 1900 and follows a Georgian style. Constructed from dark brown figured mahogany, the pieces display a polished finish that highlights the rich grain of the timber. Each unit presents a rectangular top with a reeded edge above three graduated drawers. The hardware comprises brass swan-neck handles paired with central keyhole escutcheons on every drawer front. The structures stand on raised bracket feet at the base. Each chest measures 79 cm high, 47 cm wide, and 40 cm deep in practical terms. These matching cabinets function as bedside tables in a bedroom, providing storage surfaces next to a bed while maintaining a traditional aesthetic.

FAQs

Bedside chests from these eras typically feature compact proportions, fine hardwood veneers such as mahogany, clean lines, and bracket feet, designed to provide functional storage beside beds.

Traditional pieces were constructed using solid hardwoods or veneers like mahogany and walnut, featuring hand-dovetailed drawer joints, oak secondary timbers, and solid brass hardware.

Authenticity can be verified by examining drawer construction for hand-cut dovetails, checking for original brass castors or bracket feet, and observing natural wear patterns or timber shrinkage.

Positioning a symmetrical pair on either side of an upholstered modern bed creates balanced proportion, while pairing dark mahogany wood with soft neutral wall colours highlights the natural timber grain.

Clean surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish along the wood grain twice yearly, avoiding direct sunlight and proximity to heat radiators.
