FAQs

Art Deco glass from the 1920s is characterised by stylized naturalistic or geometric forms, frequent use of frosted or opalescent finishes, and relief patterns pressed or moulded into the glass surface.

Frosted art glass was typically crafted by pressing molten glass into cast iron moulds, after which the exterior surface was acid-etched or sandblasted to create a smooth, light-diffusing matte finish.

Authentic period glass features crisp detail in the moulded relief, balanced weight, hand-finished polished rims or bases, and accurate wheel-cut or acid-etched maker signatures.

Position the vase where ambient or natural light can pass through the body, such as on a window ledge, mantelpiece, or sideboard, allowing the relief pattern to illuminate without requiring floral fills.

Wash the glass gently using lukewarm water and neutral dish soap with a soft microfibre cloth, avoiding abrasive cleaning pads, harsh chemicals, or exposure to rapid temperature shifts.
