An opaque twist ale glass is a historic drinking vessel produced in 18th-century England, characterised by opaque white enamel glass threads enclosed within the stem.

These pieces were hand-blown using lead glass, incorporating intricate pulled enamel rods twisted together inside the stem before being attached to a flared bowl and foot.

Authenticity is determined by examining characteristics such as pontil marks on the base, minor surface irregularities from hand-blowing, weight, and the specific composition of the twist formations.

Antique stemware can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, utilized on bar carts, or styled as decorative accents on open shelving to add historical texture to a room.

Antique glass should be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, dried immediately with a soft lint-free cloth, and kept away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations.
