Cut glass stemware gained immense popularity during the Georgian and Victorian eras, driven by advancements in glass manufacturing and heavy taxation on glass by weight, which encouraged intricate cutting and ornamentation.

These pieces were typically crafted from lead crystal or flint glass, hand-blown into moulds or free-blown, and then finished with hand-cut flutes, facets, or polished panels using a wheel.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the base, minor surface wear consistent with age, slight irregularities in thickness due to handcrafting, and a distinct resonant ring when tapped.

Antique stemware can be displayed openly on a bar cart, within a glass-fronted cabinet, or used functionally during formal dining events to add tactile history and texture to a tablescape.

Antique glass should always be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and harsh dishwashers to prevent thermal shock and clouding.
