Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A G.P.O. (General Post Office) dial clock is a wall-mounted timepiece traditionally used in British public buildings, post offices, and railway stations during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known for their utilitarian design, clear Roman numeral dials, and robust wooden cases.

These clocks typically feature solid hardwood cases made from walnut, oak, or mahogany, enclosing a mechanical spring-driven or fusee movement, protected by a heavy brass bezel and a hinged glass front door.

Authentic pieces usually feature original painted metal or wooden dials, often bearing official government or department markings such as G.P.O., alongside maker signatures on the mechanical movement and characteristic dovetail joints within the wooden rim casing.

Such a timepiece serves as a striking focal point when mounted on a plain, neutral wall in a hallway, kitchen, or study, contrasting effectively with contemporary minimalist decor or complementing a traditional interior scheme.

The clock should be kept away from direct sunlight, excessive moisture, and rapid temperature fluctuations, and the mechanical movement requires professional servicing every three to five years to ensure accurate timekeeping.
